Your maternity leave, planned month by month

The calculator tells you what you'll be paid. The planner shows how you'll manage: your whole household budget, the tight months, and how much to put aside before your leave starts.

  • Uses the same tested calculations as our free calculator, including employer and NHS schemes
  • Household income and spending for every month, from before leave until you're back at work
  • A savings target: how much to put aside each month, and the month money is tightest
  • Baby costs checklist, benefits to claim and a back-to-work childcare comparison

What happens after you pay

  1. You'll come back to this site to a thank-you page, and get an email from Whop, our payment provider.
  2. Open your planner: make your own Google Sheets copy in one click, or download the Excel version and a quick-start guide.
  3. Fill in the highlighted cells on Your Details. Everything else works itself out.

Payments are processed securely by Whop, who also handle tax. We never see your card details. Your planner copy is yours: we can't see what you put in it.

Estimates to help you plan, not financial advice. Check your actual pay with your employer.

Questions

Before you buy

Do I need Excel?

No. Most people use the free Google Sheets version: one click makes your own private copy. An Excel file is included too.

Is this different from the free calculator?

The calculator shows your pay. The planner adds your whole household: spending, your partner's income, baby costs, savings and going back to work, so you can see whether the numbers work and what to do if they don't.

Does it work for NHS staff and employer schemes?

Yes. Enter your employer's maternity pay stages (for example the NHS's 8 weeks full pay and 18 weeks half pay plus SMP) and it does the rest.

What about Scotland?

Choose Scotland and it uses Scottish income tax bands. Statutory Maternity Pay and Child Benefit are the same across the UK.

Will it be updated when rates change?

Yes. Rates change each April. The 2026/27 edition is current, and you'll get updated versions through the same access.
